According to the Beijing Morning Post, from October 1, 2014, China will ban the import and sale of 60 watts and above ordinary incandescent lights.

As early as 2011, China had the incandescent phase-out schedule. Since October 1, 2012 the import and sale of 100 watts and above ordinary incandescent lights were banned, this year's National ban incandescent 60-watt and above is the third phase. It is expected that in October 1, 2016, China will ban the import and sale of 15 watts and above ordinary incandescent lights, or adjusting according to the mid-term evaluation results. Some experts predict that LED lights will become the biggest winner.

Advantages of Incandescent lights: good light color and set light, low cost and large output.

Disadvantages of Incandescent lights: not environmental friendly; low luminous efficiency, (Incandescent lights is heat-emitting, 95% of the electrical energy consumed in the heating, only 5% of the electrical energy is converted into light we can see. Therefore, the luminous efficiency of Incandescent lights are very low.) Further disadvantages are: high heating temperature, rapid thermal evaporation, single color, short life span (usually 1000 hours) – influence by filament temperature.

So what about energy-saving light? Its advantages are: energy conversion rate is relatively higher than incandescent light, energy- saving, it can be said that reducing greenhouse gas emissions, longer life span( usually 6000 hours).

Disadvantages of Energy-saving lights: price is relatively high, the lamp tube broken can cause mercury volatile which is great harmful to human body.

Advantages of LED lights: high energy efficiency, lighting 1000 hours consumes only several degrees of electricity; super long life span(over 20,000 hours); semiconductor chips emitting; no filament; no glass bulb; shock preventive; shatter-resistant; not contain ultraviolet and infrared light; no radiation, mercury and xenon and other harmful elements; ; no electromagnetic interference; conducive to recycling; DC drive; no flash; eyesight protecting; high safe factor; great market potential, can be applied in places lack of electricity or less electricity, such as remote mountainous areas and outdoor lighting etc.

Disadvantages of LED lights: flicker; LED bulb light is too bright to look straight, even a short time, energy-saving lights are relatively softer; irradiation angle is limited(generally 120 °) while the ordinary energy-saving lights illuminated almost 360 °; brightness illuminating the room is not better than energy-saving lamps, because high brightness only within a narrow angle look directly, weakened rapidly when deviating from the angle of light.
